Speaking on Soccer AM’s YouTube channel, Mason Holgate has opened up on wanting to play more alongside Allan at Everton.
The stars haven’t aligned for Allan and Holgate to spend much time on the pitch together, with the pair’s injuries and recoveries coming at the wrong times.
This has meant that the pair have only played 515 minutes together so far at Everton, and that’s something Holgate wants to change.
“Yeah, definitely. I mean I haven’t really played that many games with Allan yet, because I missed the first half of the season and then I came back and he got injured pretty soon, and I’m looking forward to playing more games with him,”
“From what I watched at the start of the season. He definitely helps out the back four, by just sitting in and breaking things up and it’s always easier to play with someone who does the not so nice side of the game, because it makes it easier for everyone else to give it to the ball players and be strong as a defensive unit.”

Allan’s presence in the midfield is enough to shore up any defence, so it’s no surprise that Holgate wants to play with him more.
Having a player like Allan in front of you must be so comforting. The Brazilian is often an even bigger defensive presence than the centre-halves at Everton, and he’s also brilliant with the ball at his feet.
Hopefully, both men can stay fit and we can see this partnership blossom a bit more in the coming years.
