The Dutchman could have been the striker that Leeds United wanted.
Blackburn’s Marvin Emnes scores their first goal
Leeds United won their first game at Elland Road in the Championship this season recently. They got the better of struggling Blackburn Rovers in Yorkshire, just about.
Leeds took the lead through Chris Wood against Blackburn but then had to rely on a late header from defender Kyle Bartley to secure a 2-1 victory.
The man who scored the Blackburn goal, should surely have been pursued more by Leeds this summer.
Swansea City’s loaned out forward Marvin Emnes
Marvin Emnes struck the equaliser and if the score had finished 1-1 Leeds fans would have been wondering why the Dutchman was not playing in white.
Leeds were well documented to want another striker during the transfer window but failed to bring someone in.
One player linked was the strong and powerful Emnes. That was at the start of July, with the Yorkshire Evening Post suggesting Leeds could make a move.
Leeds United manager Garry Monk
It made sense. He is a striker they could have done with and he of course played under Leeds boss Garry Monk at Swansea.
His goal for Blackburn this week ended up proving to be non-important. But Leeds will surely believe they should have done more to bring Emnes to Leeds instead of Ewood Park this summer.
