The Glasgow Rangers forward rejected a new deal at Ibrox, but has sent a positive message to supporters.

While Martyn Waghorn has admitted that he is leaving his contract situation at Rangers in the hands of his agent, he has offered some assurances regarding his future by insisting that he is more than happy at Ibrox, The Scottish Sun reports.
The Guardian reported earlier in the month that Waghorn and teammate James Tavernier had rejected new deals with the Light Blues as they were unhappy with the terms that were on the table.

But after the pair helped the Gers get their season off to a flyer by each scoring a goal in the 2-0 Scottish League Cup victory over Motherwell, the 26-year-old reiterated how much he is enjoying life as part of Mark Warburton’s team.
“I’m really happy here. I had a very good year last year, and I’ve still got two years left on my deal,” he told The Scottish Sun.
“There’s a lot of stuff going on but it’s up to my agent. I’m very happy, my family’s happy and I just want to get the season started and get going.”
Judging by Waghorn’s comments, it will not be long before last season’s top scorer confirms his commitment to the club by agreeing a new deal.

Even though he has suggested that his representatives will be sorting his future, he will surely be making it clear to them that his preferred outcome is a new deal with the Scottish Premiership side.
And if he follows up his goal against Well by replicating the strike-rate he managed during their promotion-winning campaign last year, then it seems highly likely that Rangers will be more than happy to put the kind of terms on the table that persuades him to sign.
