Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerrard have brought Jermain Defoe to Ibrox.

Rangers have been quite busy in the January transfer window already, as Steven Gerrard’s side reinforce their squad to challenge Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title this season.
The Gers have announced on their official website this afternoon that they have signed striker Jermain Defoe on an 18-month loan deal from Premier League club Bournemouth.
Rangers have also signed Jordan Jones and Glen Kamara on pre-contract agreements, with the duo to link up with the Ibrox club in the summer of 2019.
According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers are on the verge of signing midfielder Steven Davis from Southampton.
Martyn Waghorn was on the books of Rangers from 2015 until 2017, and the Derby County striker is impressed with the Gers’ decision to sign Defoe on loan.
The 28-year-old forward joined Derby from Championship rivals Ipswich Town in the summer transfer window for a fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £5 million.
Former Rangers midfielder Alex Rae is also pleased to see Defoe arrive at Ibrox.
Meanwhile, Defoe himself has made a post on Twitter after joining Rangers.

Defoe is a proven goalscorer, and before the striker joined Rangers on loan from Bournemouth, a couple of notable footballing figures spoke highly of the transfer.
Steve Lomas, who played with Defoe at West Ham United, told The Daily Record about the striker: “He certainly wouldn’t be coming up to rest on his laurels. He would be coming up to score goals and win things.”
Former Rangers midfielder Barry Ferguson wrote in The Daily Record: “That’s an absolute master-stroke as far as I’m concerned even if I have no idea how Rangers are managing to finance it.
“Suddenly, they have gone from a position of potentially being without Morelos for a period of games to having him leading the line alongside one of the all-time great Premier League strikers.”
