Southampton are reportedly set to land ex-Leeds man Martyn Glover.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Everton scout Martyn Glover is set to leave the club in order to become Southampton’s new head of recruitment.
Southampton want to focus on homegrown signings this summer, and bringing in an experienced scout like Glover to aid Ross Wilson is seen as the way to go.
A move is set to be confirmed imminently, and Glover will be looking to get his targets lined up for the summer transfer window as Southampton look to kick on after a couple of disappointing seasons.
Southampton have already been linked with a few signings, and The Sun (14/4, p61) reported that Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips is a target for the Saints – and Glover’s move may just strengthen those claims.
That’s because Glover worked at Leeds between the summer of 2015 and January 2016, when Phillips was coming through and making a name for himself at Elland Road.

Earlier this season, TEAMtalk claimed that Everton wanted Phillips, and with Glover driving UK recruitment under Marcel Brands at Goodison Park, he was no doubt heavily involved in the interest.
Of course, if Leeds win promotion, Phillips surely won’t be going anywhere. Yet if they miss out, Southampton may well come calling, and a move for the 23-year-old midfielder may become even more likely with Glover now heading to the South Coast.
