Tottenham Hotspur star Toby Alderweireld has struggled with injury issues this season.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld is on international duty with Belgium at the moment, and former Everton manager Roberto Martinez has made some rather encouraging comments for the Spurs fans.
The Belgium national football team head coach has stated that Alderweireld has looked good in training, and that the 29-year-old defender could feature in the friendly international against Saudi Arabia next week.

Martinez told Football.London about Alderweireld: “His state of mind is great. Obviously we need to see him on a pitch as well but in training and every way he is around the place is a real good influence for everyone. I haven’t seen anything different.
“He’s had a big smile on his face. He’s a very positive person in his nature. I think he’s recovered extremely well, we’ve got all the information and we just looking forward to seeing if we can get him involved in the Tuesday game and allow him the time to heal and to get him back into his normal self.”

On the comeback trail
Alderweireld has had injury issues this season and has been able to make only 10 appearances in the Premier League so far this campaign.
Although Spurs have done relatively well without him, Mauricio Pochettino’s side are certainly a better team with the Belgian in it.
Martinez’s comments suggest that the defender, who earns £50,000 per week at Tottenham according to The Daily Mail, is fully fit, and that is certainly very positive and encouraging for the Spurs fans.
With Tottenham still challenging for a place in the top four of the Premier League and a spot in the FA Cup final, the former Ajax star will be important for the North London outfit in the final weeks of the season.
