If rumours are to be believed, Arsenal have made their first summer signing.
Fram Larvik, a Director of Football based in Norway, revealed to VG.no on Friday that the Gunners had signed George Lewis.
The 19-year-old Norwegian winger – who was born in Rwanda – had been on trial at Arsenal since March.
And it looks like Lewis did enough to impress at London Colney, with Larvik claiming that he has been signed on a permanent basis.
Goal.com have previously reported that Lewis would be going straight into the North Londoners’ Under-23 side, rather than be a regular fixture in Mikel Arteta’s senior side.
Here’s how Arsenal fans reacted to the story on Twitter:
It must be said that Arsenal supporters will be pretty underwhelmed if Lewis is their only signing of the summer.
But these are ominous times for every club around Europe and Goal reported this week that the Emirates Stadium club could lose as much as £144 million if the 2020-21 season is played behind closed doors, which might make the club’s hierarchy reluctant to sanction any major moves.
