Martin Tyler thinks Jamie Carragher sold Andy Robertson ‘short’ by not awarding him the Man of the Match award during Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Everton in the Merseyside derby on Sunday.
As the game was coming to an end at Anfield, Carragher was asked by the Sky commentator for his Man of the Match and he didn’t hesitate in handing it to Divock Origi.
The Liverpool striker came off the bench to change the tide of the game for his side, including scoring another goal against Everton.
Whilst Origi doesn’t score the volume of goals that Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota score, one thing is for sure, the number of important goals he scores are right up there.
Nonetheless, when the Belgian was handed the Man of the Match award yesterday, during his commentatory for Sky Sports Premier League, Tyler disagreed with Carragher and hinted that it should have been Robertson instead.
“Man of the Match, Jamie?” asked Tyler to which Carragher responded in a flash ‘Oh, Divock Origi.”
The Sky commentator then added: “Have you not sold Andy Roberton a bit short there?”
Carragher responded: “Well, he got the goal and made a vital clearance at one end.
“But Divock Origi, how long he has been on the pitch, involved in the first goal and then gets the goal that wins it.”
Tyler then added: “As you say, all the Liverpool fans love him and you come into that category.”

If Liverpool end the season with the Premier League title, then they will look back at the Merseyside derby as one of those title-defining games.
Their win against Manchester United last week was a walk in the park, but their neighbours made life very, very difficult for them.
At half-time, it was Everton that were winning that battle, especially given the manner they were playing.
But, the quality within Liverpool’s squad shone through, added with the composure shown by the players and Jurgen Klopp’s decision making.
