Sky Sports commentator Martin Tyler has jokingly told Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur to give up on signing Pedro Porro because of interest from Graham Potter’s Chelsea.

Tyler made the joke about Tottenham, Chelsea and Porro during the Premier League game between Manchester City and Spurs at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday evening.

The 77-year-old was on commentary duty for the match on Sky Sports.

Tyler said in the 47th minute of the game on Sky Sports Premier League (9:07pm, January 19, 2023): “There are reports of Pedro Porro from Portugal. I understand that Chelsea are interested as well, so you might as well give up on that one.”

Pedro Porro linked with Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea

According to 90min, Tottenham want to sign the 23-year-old right-back from Sporting Lisbon in the January transfer window.

Sporting will reportedly only sell if Spurs pay the Spain international’s release clause of €45 million (£40 million) in full.

Mundo Deportivo in Spain have claimed that Chelsea are keen on Porro, who can also play as a wing-back.

Chelsea have history

We can understand why Martin Tyler made the joke about Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Pedro Porro.

Chelsea have been linked with a lot of players in the January transfer window.

And, as we all know, the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners snapped up Ukraine international winger Mykhailo Mudryk just as Arsenal thought that they were getting close to a deal.

Benoit Badiashile, Andrey Santos, David Datro Fofana and Joao Felix have also moved to Chelsea in January.
