Republic of Ireland manager Martin O’Neill has told The Daily Mail that Tottenham Hotspur and Denmark international attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen is a world-class footballer.

O’Neill made the comments ahead of the Republic of Ireland’s UEFA Nations League Group B4 game against Denmark away from home on Monday evening.

“World-class players can deal with situations and Eriksen is a world-class footballer, he will be hard to deal with,” O’Neill told The Daily Mail.

“I think that regardless of some sort of plans you might make, players can extricate themselves from those positions.

“We gave him a bit of space (in the play-off), particularly in the second half, which he exploited pretty well – he’s a top-class player.”
