Martin Keown has given his take on talkSPORT (11:55am, October 16, 2020) on speculation that Said Benrahma has failed a medical at West Ham United.
The Arsenal legend believes that a deal could still be struck between West Ham and Brentford before the transfer window closes at 5pm today.
According to The Mirror, Benrahma – who can play as a winger or as a forward – has failed a medical, and his £25 million potential move to West Ham is now ‘in jeopardy’.
However, according to the report, the Hammers are still trying to work out a deal and have not given up on securing the services of the 25-year-old winger from Championship club Brentford yet.
Keown said on talkSPORT (11:55am, October 16, 2020): “Maybe this one is open to the imagination of the agent.
“£25 million, maybe West Ham are thinking, ‘Well, okay, you know, we won’t pay quite as much upfront. Once he plays the games, the money will go forward’.
“There is a way forward perhaps to do a deal. Whether or not Brentford are willing to allow him to leave for that kind of money…”
Could Said Benrahma still join West Ham United?
Benrahma was in action for Brentford on October 4, as stated on WhoScored, and this suggests that the issues during medical may not be long term or too serious.
If the winger wants to join the Hammers and Brentford are willing to negotiate the structure of the deal, then a move is still possible, as there is enough time to get it done.
