Mousa Dembele has left Tottenham Hotspur.

Arsenal legend Martin Keown has suggested in The Daily Mail that Harry Winks will replace Mousa Dembele in the Tottenham Hotspur team.

Dembele has left Tottenham to join Chinese club Guangzhou R&F in the January transfer window for a fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £11 million.

Former Arsenal star Keown has suggested that Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino considers Winks as the replacement for the Belgium international midfielder.

Keown wrote in The Daily Mail: “In letting Dembele go, Mauricio Pochettino is clearly confident Harry Winks is a good enough replacement. Winks now has to prove he is capable of running games on a consistent basis.”

Stepping up

Winks is only 22 years of age, but the England international midfielder has already shown what he is capable of.

Dembele was one of the best players at Tottenham in recent years, and it is going to be tough for Winks to successfully replace the Belgian.

The 22-year-old has to be given time and encouragement, as the midfielder gradually grows into the role.

According to WhoScored, Winks has made 11 starts and eight substitute appearances in the Premier League for Spurs so far this season, and four starts and two substitute appearances in the Champions League for the North London outfit.
