Martin Keown said on BT Sport 1 (10:04pm, January 2, 2021) that Celtic fans will be envious of Kieran Tierney scoring a wondergoal for Arsenal.
Tierney scored a brilliant solo goal for Arsenal in their 4-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion away from home at The Hawthorns in the Premier League on Saturday evening.
The 23-year-old Scotland international left-back joined the Gunners from Celtic in the summer of 2019 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £25 million.
Arsenal legend Keown said that Tierney’s goal against the Baggies did not surprise him, and believes that Celtic fans will be envious, as the left-back played consistently well for the Hoops during his time at the Scottish Premiership club.
Keown said on BT Sport 1 (10:04pm, January 2, 2021): “It doesn’t surprise me. Celtic fans will be watching this now with envy. He played like this for Celtic for years.”
Celtic’s troubles
While Arsenal won their third successive Premier League game on Saturday, Celtic suffered a 1-0 defeat to Rangers in the Old Firm derby yesterday.
The Hoops are now 19 points behind Rangers in second place in the Scottish Premiership table, although the defending champions do have three games in hand.
Celtic’s chances of winning the league title for the 10th year in a row look slim.
