Martin Keown has praised Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold in The Daily Mail ahead of the Merseyside derby against Everton this weekend.

Everton will take on Liverpool at Goodison Park in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Right-back Alexander-Arnold is likely to feature in the Merseyside derby, with the 20-year-old England international having recovered from his recent injury problems.

Arsenal legend Martin Keown has hailed the youngster, and he believes that he will be a key player for Liverpool against Everton.

Keown wrote in The Daily Mail: “Everton are vulnerable from crosses and if they do not stop Alexander-Arnold on Sunday, Liverpool’s fearsome forwards will be queuing up to put the ball in the net.

“The quality of his delivery is sublime. Alexander-Arnold has natural talent for striking the ball, bending his body to generate maximum whip and pace.

“He reminds me of Steven Gerrard in the way he crosses, with such accuracy and venom.”

Important player

Alexander-Arnold is one of the best right-backs in the Premier League, and the Liverpool defender will be an important player against Everton.

The Toffees are not exactly great at the back at the moment, and Liverpool will be favourites heading into the Merseyside derby.

Everton, though, will have home advantage, and if they score an early goal, then things could get tricky for Liverpool.

However, if Jurgen Klopp’s side manage to find the net first, then it is hard to see Everton launch a comeback.
