Martin Keown has seemingly suggested that Crystal Palace parting company with Frank De Boer looks inevitable.

Frank de Boer, Manager of Crytal Palace looks on prior to the Premier League match between Crystal Palace and Huddersfield Town at Selhurst Park on August 12, 2017 in London, England.

Martin Keown has told The Daily Mail that he feels that Frank De Boer is already on borrowed time at Crystal Palace after the Eagles’ terrible start to the new season, and urged the Dutchman to admit to his previous mistakes to give him a fighting chance of keeping his job.

Palace return to Premier League action this weekend following the end of the international break looking to bag their first points of the campaign having lost their previous three top flight games.

Their start has led to plenty of speculation that De Boer could already be on the verge of being sacked, with The Telegraph reporting that their next game, a trip to Burnley, is a vital one for the former Ajax boss.

But Keown believes that De Boer’s departure is currently looking inevitable – with only big changes from the manager and players likely to be enough to give him a chance of sticking around.

Martin Kelly of Crystal Palace is dejected after the Premier League match between Crystal Palace and Swansea City at Selhurst Park on August 26, 2017 in London, England.

“De Boer is a smart man. He will know that he is on borrowed time — and he may well have already lost the players,” he told the Mail.

“Blaming the manager is an easy out for these players. Now everyone is back from international duty, De Boer needs to take on board the criticism and admit to the squad that he tried to move away too quickly from the style of play the squad were used to.”

Unfortunately for Palace, there does not appear to be just one problem that De Boer needs to fix, with plenty of goals being conceded and none being scored.

And while Palace fans may perhaps be fearing the worst for their next game, there will undoubtedly be a sense of intrigue to see whether De Boer does deviate from his preferred style in a clear attempt to save his job.
