Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has done a brilliant job at the club.

Martin Keown suggested that the thought of Mauricio Pochettino leaving for Manchester United will be a big worry for Tottenham fans, when speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail.

The Argentine has earned rave reviews for the job that he has done since taking over as manager of Spurs in the summer of 2014, and he is now widely considered to be one of the best in the business.

The one criticism levelled at Poch is his failure to guide his side to a major trophy during his time in charge at north London.

That is maybe a little unfair, however, considering how little Tottenham have spent in comparison the their top four rivals.

When speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail, Keown suggested that if Spurs are to keep hold of their brilliant manager, Daniel Levy will need to back him to the hilt during the next few transfer windows:

“This is the big worry for Spurs fans. The cat is well and truly out of the bag with Pochettino. If Tottenham want to keep him, they have to back him with the resources he needs to take this club as far as he can. He has developed stars like Dele Alli and Harry Kane. Tottenham can now go to places like the Nou Camp and get a result. The criticism levelled at Tottenham is that they have won plenty of admiration but no trophies. Tottenham can fulfil Pochettino’s ambition. Once they have moved into their new stadium, they need to back him with the resources to do so.”

The Argentine is under contract with Tottenham until the summer of 2023, so the north London outfit still hold plenty of power in the situation.

Much will depend on how successful Spurs are this season, and with their move to their magnificent new stadium on the horizon, there should be no reason why Poch will want to jump ship just yet.
