Martin Keown has claimed on the Daily Mail’s website that West Ham United manager Manuel Pellegrini has a big decision to make on midfield duo Jack Wilshere and Mark Noble – because they cannot play together.

New signing Wilshere started alongside Noble in the middle of the park at Anfield last weekend, but the Champions League finalists ran riot against Manuel Pellegrini’s new side.

Liverpool earned a 4-0 win thanks to goals from Mo Salah, Daniel Sturridge and a brace from Sadio Mane, leaving new signing Lukasz Fabianski flabbergasted between the West Ham posts as he was called on to make save after save.

Keown was asked what he thought of Wilshere’s performance against Liverpool on his West Ham debut, and Keown responded by saying Pellegrini has a decision to make over the duo.

“It was difficult judge West Ham because of the quality of opposition they were up against,” Keown said. “It will be interesting to see if Manuel Pellegrini continues to play Wilshere and Mark Noble together.

“They are both technical players but did not give West Ham enough mobility in midfield.”

West Ham are next in action on Saturday as they host Bournemouth at the London Stadium, with Pellegrini looking to put things right by picking a team capable of earning three points.

It is likely to see both Noble and Wilshere start again, while new signings Fabianski, Ryan Fredericks, Fabian Balbuena and Felipe Anderson will be hoping to keep their place.
