Tottenham Hotspur need someone to step up whilst Harry Kane is out of action.
Martin Keown suggested that the goalscoring burden for Tottenham will now fall on Lucas Moura’s shoulders in the absence of Harry Kane, when speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail.
The England international will be out until at least March with an ankle injury, in what is a huge blow to Spurs’ hopes of ending their 11-year wait for silverware.
Mauricio Pochettino does have options to fill in for Kane, however, including the likes of Fernando Llorente, teenage starlet Troy Parrott and Lucas Moura.
The emphasis will be on the Brazilian, though, to produce the goods over the next six to eight weeks, according to Koewn.
The former Arsenal defender suggested that Tottenham’s season is in danger of derailing, unless someone like the former PSG ace can step up, when speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail:
“Not only losing Kane but Son Heung-min, too, threatens to derail Tottenham’s season. Dele Alli has been playing high up the pitch but the goalscoring burden will now surely fall to Lucas Moura.”
Lucas, 26, has chalked up nine goals and six assists in 39 appearances since joining Spurs in January 2018, and he will drastically need to improve upon that attacking output, if he is to fill the void left during Kane’s absence.
