Martin Keown said on BT Sports 1 (10pm, April 8, 2021) that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang played well for Arsenal this evening.

The Arsenal legend believes that Aubameyang was up for it after coming on as a substitute against Slavia Prague in the Europa League tie at the Emirates Stadium.

The 31-year-old has not been in great form this season, and manager Mikel Arteta decided to leave him on the substitutes’ bench.

Alexandre Lacazette started down the middle instead, and the France international failed to score from a very good position in the second half.

Aubameyang came on as a substitute for Lacazette in the 78th minute, and the Arsenal captain provided the assist for Nicolas Pepe to put the Gunners in the lead in the 86th minute.

Keown said about Aubameyang on BT Sports 1 (10pm, April 8, 2021): “Aubameyang coming off the bench, really looked like he was up for it, it was the real Aubameyang we saw when he came on.”

Encouraging performance from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Aubameyang played well after coming on, as the 31-year-old striker showed what he is capable of and looked like he had a point to prove.

According to WhoScored, the former Borussia Dortmund striker took one shot which was not on target, played one key pass, had a pass accuracy of 100%, took nine touches, and put in one cross.
