Martin Keown has raved about Marc Guehi, a player Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal reportedly wanted to sign from Crystal Palace in the summer transfer window.
Arsenal reportedly wanted to sign Marc Guehi from London and Premier League rivals Crystal Palace in the summer of 2023.
Arsenal linked with summer move for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano in CaughtOffside, Arsenal actually looked at bringing in Guehi before they settled on Jurrien Timber.
Timber, signed from Ajax in the summer transfer window, is injured now.
Romano wrote: “Guehi was one of the players considered by Arsenal back in May alongside Mohamed Simakan and Aymeric Laporte but then they decided to go for Jurrien Timber in very clear way.”
Guehi has been called up to the England squad for their upcoming international matches.

Gareth Southgate’s side will take on Ukraine in a Euro 2024 qualifier on Saturday.
The 23-year-old centre-back could start for the Three Lions.
Guehi has already played four times for England.
Martin Keown verdict on Marc Guehi
Arsenal legend and talkSPORT pundit Keown seems to rate Guehi highly, but he thinks that he needs to be more dominant in the air.
Keown wrote: “Guehi, 23, is quick, mobile and decent in possession but needs to be more dominant in the air.”
We believe that Arsenal should continue to monitor Marc Guehi.
Yes, the Gunners are well stocked in central defence at the moment, but you never know what could happen in the coming years.
And Guehi is only 23 now.
The England international centre-back has made 77 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
The youngster has scored three goals, given one assist, and kept 18 clean sheets in those games.
