Everton are struggling this season and the pressure on their manager grows by the week.

Ronald Koeman, Manager of Everton makes a point during the Premier League match between Brighton and Hove Albion and Everton at Amex Stadium on October 15, 2017 in Brighton, England.

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has responded to a question about Everton’s poor form in his Daily Mail column, questioning the omission of two Toffees players just when they need them most.

Everton were busy in the summer transfer window, with many fans expecting them to mount a serious push for a top-four finish this season. However, that is far from the truth as things stand, with the Toffees currently 16th in the Premier League with just eight points from a possible 24.

Speaking about the club’s struggles, Koeman told the Mail, “They are too static, do not put teams under pressure and allow their opponents to grow into games.

“Gylfi Sigurdsson and Wayne Rooney do not have the options to bring out their qualities on the ball. It is not as if Koeman does not have other options. Where are Kevin Mirallas and Ademola Lookman?”

That is a question Everton fans have been asking all season, with Lookman’s regular omission particularly bizarre given his speed, raw potential, impact last season and contribution to England’s U20 World Cup triumph.

Kevin Mirallas of Everton reacts after the Premier League match between Brighton and Hove Albion and Everton at Amex Stadium on October 15, 2017 in Brighton, England.

The Everton teenager has featured just four times this season and is yet to feature for a single minute in the Premier League, while Mirallas has managed only 27 minutes in the league spread over three brief appearances.

Everton need to get back to winning ways as soon as possible, and that could mean a major change of approach from Koeman, before the Toffees hierarchy are forced to make a change of their own.
