Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish guided his boyhood club to their first win of the new Premier League season when they beat Everton on Friday night.

Martin Keown has lauded five Aston Villa players and claimed that Jack Grealish and John McGinn ‘ran the show’ during their 2-0 win against Everton on Friday night.
Dean Smith’s side went into the game on the back of suffering two defeats on their Premier League return, but they made sure the points were well and truly secured against the Toffees.
It was a strong energetic display from Villa, with striker Wesley scoring the first goal for his club and Anwar El Ghazi netting in stoppage-time to make sure of the points.
Speaking on Football Focus on BBC One (24/08/2019 at 12:20 pm), Keown praised the performances of Wesley, Jota, Grealish, McGinn and Tyrone Mings.
“I felt Villa the way that they played, one or two of them have announced themselves into the Premier League having lost the first two games,” Keown told Football Focus. “Wesley, the frontman, everything went through him.

“McGinn and Grealish ran the show in midfield. And once that confidence came from their first goal, Jota carrying the ball [for the first goal] really impressed with him. Delays the pass and great movement [from Wesley]. He was on the shoulder at every opportunity, I thought Tyrone Mings was really strong at the back.”
It was a well-deserved victory for Villa, who in their previous games, despite performing well, were punished for their individual mistakes.
Now, the confidence will be flowing from Smith’s side and they will be looking to add to that confidence when they take on League Two side Crewe in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.
It wouldn’t be a surprise if Smith makes a number of changes because Villa have a Premier League clash at Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.
