West Ham United will take on Chelsea in the Premier League on Monday night.
Martin Keown has honestly stated that West Ham midfielder Jack Wilshere may ‘never’ lose his ‘injury-prone’ label as he lauded him for his ‘mentally strong’ attitude.
The 27-year-old returned to action for the club’s under-23’s recently and Keown stated that his latest setback must have felt ‘nightmarish’ for him.
During his career, Wilshere has suffered from a lot of injury problems and setbacks which has resulted in him losing his place in the England team.
Former Arsenal defender Keown spoke briefly about the senior player as he was hoping he can ‘enjoy’ his football again as he prepares to return from the sidelines once more.
“Jack Wilshere appeared for the first time in 2019 on Sunday by featuring for West Ham’s Under 23s,” Keown told the Daily Mail. “His latest injury setback must have felt nightmarish for him but Wilshere has always seemed mentally strong. That’s what you need.
“He may never lose that ‘injury-prone’ label but hopefully, he can stay fit and enjoy playing again.”
The Hammers signed Wilshere on a free transfer from Arsenal last summer, but he has only appeared briefly for Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
There are six games of the season remaining for West Ham, including their Monday night trip to London rivals Chelsea where they will be hoping to move back into the Premier League’s top 10.
Wilshere won’t be part of the team that travels to Stamford Bridge, but with the season drawing to a close, he will be hoping to appear on the pitch once again.
