Martin Keown lavished praise on to Nayef Aguerd, ahead of West Ham United’s 1-1 draw against Graham Potter’s Chelsea on Saturday.
The Moroccan international, who signed for the Hammers for £27.4 million (The Athletic) in the summer, with Chris Sutton pinpointing how he has made a ‘big difference’ to the side this season. Even Declan Rice was complimentary of his teammate’s ‘massive’ display against Portugal at the World Cup, which shows how highly-rated he already is.
Now, it seems like Martin Keown, who is regarded as one of England’s greatest ever defenders himself is a fan of Nayef Aguerd, as he said before West Ham United’s draw against Chelsea.
Keown raves about Aguerd ahead of West Ham vs Chelsea
The ‘fantastic’ 26-year-old has been restricted to a mere 4 starts in the Premier League this campaign, owing to a long-term ankle injury.
However, Martin Keown has seen enough from West Ham United’s Nayef Aguerd, ahead of their clash against Chelsea to sing his praises.
“He’s [David Moyes] decided that a 3-4-2-1 set-up is the best way to give West Ham balance. This includes a completely new-look left-hand side to the defence with Nayef Aguerd starting on the left of a back three and Emerson Palmieri at left wing-back. Aguerd has been a revelation, he’s quick, mobile and comfortable in possession”, Keown wrote in his Daily Mail column ahead of the game against Chelsea.

The Arsenal legend concluded, “He and Emerson have started the last three games together. And this system is helping restore confidence to the team and ease some of the pressure on the manager.”
The hope remains that the elegant defender, who shone in Ligue 1 will continue to impress. In addition, the Nayef Aguerd fan club that certainly includes Martin Keown should continue to grow after his performance for West Ham against Chelsea.
