Martin Keown gave his take on reported Tottenham Hotspur target Joe Rodon on talkSPORT (10:54am, October 16, 2020).
According to The Daily Mail, Tottenham are interested in signing Rodon from Swansea on transfer deadline day.
Spurs have made a bid of £7 million for the Wales international, but Championship club Swansea have rejected it and are determined to hold out for £18 million, according to the report.
Leicester City are also claimed to be interested in securing the services of the 22-year-old today.
Arsenal legend Keown has been impressed with what he has seen of Rodon, but he did point at the mistake he made while playing for Wales against England during the international break.
Keown said about Rodon on talkSPORT (10:54am, October 16, 2020): “Clearly Spurs have been watching him for a while, so one mistake, it’s not about that. His general play is quite decent to me.”
Would Joe Rodon make Tottenham Hotspur better?
Rodon is a very talented and promising young defender who has established himself as a regular for Swansea.
According to WhoScored, the youngster made 21 appearances in the Championship last season and played 27 times in the league in 2018-19.
The 22-year-old Wales international is ready for the next step in his career and move to the Premier League.
The youngster would give Spurs head coach Jose Mourinho another option in defence and would compete with Toby Alderweireld, Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier.
