Martin Keown has criticised Arsenal’s front-three on Stadium Astro, following their performance against Leicester City on Monday.

Arsenal went down 1-0 against the Foxes, with a goal from Jamie Vardy proving to be the difference between the two sides.

Arsenal had much of the ball but, outside of one chance for Alexandre Lacazette, they struggled to create too many openings.

And Keown felt that Lacazette, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Bukayo Saka didn’t show for the ball enough.

“These players are getting the ball and it’s jamming at little bit,” he said.

“It was very static, the front three never moved from positions or made themselves available. So work on the training ground.”

In fairness to the Arsenal trio it was the first time they had all played together in Arteta’s new system.

Arsenal played with a 4-3-3 shape against Leicester, which looks to be Arteta’s formation of choice for the future.

Arteta has previously not had the right players available to use the system, but following the arrival of Thomas Partey he now does seem comfortable deploying it.

And Arsenal will hope that they become a bigger attacking threat once their players become more familiar with the new shape in the coming weeks.
