Arsenal legend Martin Keown says he is delighted with Tottenham striker Harry Kane’s progress.

Martin Keown and Robbie Savage watch on from the BT Sport Studio during the Premier League match between Watford and Arsenal at Vicarage Road on October 14, 2017 in Watford, England.

Former Arsenal defender and club legend Martin Keown said in his column for the Daily Mail that he is delighted with Harry Kane’s development at Tottenham Hotspur.

Keown, who played over 340 matches for Arsenal, and won three Premier League titles during his playing career, says that it is good for both Spurs and England that Kane is “improving” and “developing” all the time.

The 24-year-old has gradually established himself as one of the best strikers in the Premier League over the years. He has scored over 30 goals in all competitions in two of his last three seasons, and has started the 2017/18 campaign on a high as well.

Kane has scored 11 goals in all competitions already, and his performances have earned him rave reviews from the fans and football pundits alike.

Many feel that he has reached the elite level, and that he is a world class player now, drawing comparisons with the likes of two modern greats – Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

However, Koewn has written in his column that he is not yet at the level of Ronaldo and Messi, as both these players have been performing at an incredible level for almost a decade.

“It’s great for Tottenham and England that Kane — and indeed all Spurs’ English stars — are improving and developing all the time,” said Keown to the Daily Mail.

“I am delighted for Kane — his goal record in 2017 is better than Ronaldo’s. But we must be careful when we talk about Kane in these terms. He is not yet at the level of Ronaldo and Messi.

“Let’s not forget that those two have been performing at this incredible level for almost a decade.”
