Arsenal legend Martin Keown has spoken highly of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks in The Daily Mail.

The former Arsenal defender has praised the England international’s confidence and has said that he is a good passer of the football.

Keown, though, has pointed out that the 21-year-old is not as athletic as the youngster’s Spurs teammate Victor Wanyama.

“I like his ability to handle the ball,” Keown wrote in The Daily Mail about Winks. “Winks is a snappy passer. Everything is sharp.

“Despite his lack of Premier League experience he has real confidence. He may not have the athleticism of Victor Wanyama but he is still quick.

“Winks is exactly the sort of player who is benefiting from the training regime under Mauricio Pochettino. Good passers benefit from structured training sessions.”

Winks has been hitting the headlines in recent weeks and is a rising star in the current Tottenham team.

The 21-year-old recently made his debut for England and played well against Real Madrid in the Champions League in Spain on Tuesday evening.

The Englishman is still very young and has only just started to show his potential, and it is going to be tough for him to play regularly for the North London outfit this season.

Once Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama return to full fitness and are back to their best, Winks could end up on the substitutes’ bench.

It is also too early to say whether Winks should be part of the England squad for next summer’s World Cup in Russia.
