Everton suffered their first defeat of the Premier League season at Aston Villa on Friday night.

BBC Sport pundit Martin Keown has claimed that Aston Villa have ‘found’ a number nine that Everton need following Marco Silva’s side poor display at Villa Park on Friday night.
The Midlands outfit recorded a 2-0 win in front of a raucous home crowd as Villa’s big-money striker signing, Wesley scoring his first goal for the club.
Meanwhile, on the other end, Dominic Calvert-Lewin produced a poor display and missed a guilt edge chance to score for his side in the first half. Everton’s very own striker signing, Moise Kean, came off the bench, but he couldn’t find the back of the net.
Speaking to Football Focus on BBC One (24/08/2019 12:15 pm), Keown questioned Calvert-Lewin as he believes the likes of Kean and Alex Iwobi now need to start.
“Again, Marco Silva has to find, he has a lot of talent there, who is going to be that number 9?” Keown told Football Focus. “Villa have found that player. Everton haven’t.

“Calvert-Lewin is he a finisher? Moise Kean is one that can come in. He’s sitting on the bench. Iwobi on the bench. I think they did enough to suggest they might start when they came on.”
It is obvious that Calvert-Lewin isn’t the answer to Everton’s scoring problems, but with Kean in the wings, there is a lot of pressure on his shoulders.
He is yet to start a game for Silva’s side, but with one goal in three Premier League games, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him starting the next league match.
The Toffees take on League One side Lincoln City in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night before they host Wolves at Goodison Park at the weekend.
