Ashley Williams has not been playing well for Everton so far this season.
Williams is one of the best defenders at Everton, but the Wales international centre-back has struggled to play well so far this season.
The 33-year-old produced a better performance for the Toffees against West Ham United at Goodison Park on Wednesday evening and scored in their 4-0 win, but he did concede a penalty.
Arsenal legend Keown, who now works as a pundit for BBC Sport and BT Sport, believes that new-appointed Everton boss Allardyce has to rebuild Williams’s career.
“One task for Allardyce is to rebuild Ashley Williams’ career,” Keown wrote in The Daily Mail. “He conceded a clumsy penalty against West Ham and it was massive for his confidence that Pickford saved the spot-kick.”
Wiliams is a good centre-back, and in Allardyce, he will have a manager who knows how to get defenders working.
The Welshman may be 33 years of age at the moment, but the former Swansea City man is a quality defender.
Wiliams has been on the books of Everton since the summer of 2016 when he joined from Premier League rivals Swansea for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £12 million.
