Martin Keown said on BT Sport 2 (7:25pm, May 7, 2021) that Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney could succeed his teammate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as the captain of the Gunners.

The Arsenal legend, who now works as a pundit for BT Sports, is a big fan of the former Celtic left-back, and believes that he is a wonderful footballer.

Keown has said that the 23-year-old Arsenal star is a driving force and could become the captain of the North London club in the future.

The Englishman said on BT Sport 2 (7:25pm, May 7, 2021): “Tierney is a wonderful player. I have talked about maybe in the future he will become the captain. He is a real driving force. He gets down that left-hand side, time after time, whipping crosses in.”

Kieran Tierney as Arsenal captain?

Aubameyang is the Arsenal captain now, and the 31-year-old is unlikely to have his armband taken off anytime soon.

However, the Gabon international is not going to be at Arsenal forever, and Tierney could succeed the striker as the club captain.

The Scotland international left-back is only 23 years of age, and he comes across as a very mature and level-headed individual during interviews.

The 23-year-old has had injury problems during his time at Arsenal, but when fit and in full flow, he is one of the best left-backs in the Premier League.

The left-back is very vocal on the pitch and is often found shouting instructions at his teammates.

Perhaps more importantly, Tierney actually plays well in each and every game and always given his all.

That is what you want from a leader, and one should not be surprised if Tierney does become the Arsenal captain after Aubameyang leaves.
