Martin Keown said on BT Sports 3 (10:04pm, April 29, 2021) that Daniel Ceballos was out of his depth for Arsenal this evening.
Arsenal have suffered a 2-1 defeat to Villarreal away from home in Spain in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final tie this evening.
Manu Trigueros put the Yellow Submarine in the lead in the fifth minute, and Raul Albiol doubled the advantage on 29 minutes.
Arsenal went down to 10 men when midfielder Ceballos, on loan from Real Madrid, was sent off for a second bookable offence in the 57th minute.
Nicolas Pepe halved the deficit from the penalty spot in the 73rd minute, and Villarreal also ended the game with 10 men due to the dismissal of Etienne Capoue in the 80th minute.
Arsenal legend Keown believes that Ceballos struggled to play well in the match.
Keown said about Ceballos on BT Sports 3 (10:04pm, April 29, 2021): “He looked like he was out of his depth today.”
Meanwhile, former Liverpool midfielder Don Hutchison believes that Ceballos should not have been sent off.

How did Daniel Ceballos play for Arsenal?
Ceballos is not having the best of seasons for Arsenal, and the 24-year-old struggled to make an impact against Villarreal.
The former Real Betis midfielder should have been careful with his challenges, although one must ask why Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta kept him on the pitch for as long as he did.
The midfielder did not really make himself useful in the middle of the park, and there was not much understanding between him and Thomas Partey in midfield.
According to WhoScored, Ceballos had a pass accuracy of 77.8%, won two headers, took 46 touches, attempted three dribbles, made one tackle and one clearance, and put in one cross.
