Chris Coleman has been named Sunderland’s new manager.
Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown and former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson believe that Sunderland job will be difficult for any new manager.
Chris Coleman left the Wales job last week after failing to guide them to the World Cup.
Sunderland have now officially confirmed that he has become the next manager at the club.
The Black Cats have already sacked Simon Grayson after a poor start to the season. According to reports from the Mirror, Coleman has already taken Sunderland training, and he is expected to be on the touchline for the clash at Aston Villa on Tuesday.
Keown says that Sunderland are in all sorts of trouble and the club is on a slippery side.
“Sunderland are in all sorts of trouble. That club is on a slippery side and it needs correcting urgently,” said Keown to BBC Sport.
Lawrenson adds that the managers appointed at Sunderland in recent years haven’t been able to turn it around.
“All sorts of trouble in capital letters. Look at the managers they have had. They haven’t been able to turn it around. I thought he would have waited a bit longer and to get a club in a better position. That is one heck of a job.”
He expected Coleman to have waited longer to get a club who are in a better position in the league.
Sunderland drew 2-2 against Millwall on Saturday. They still remain at the bottom of the Championship.
