Martin Keown and Aidy Boothroyd have waxed-lyrical about Arsenal and Leeds United striker Eddie Nketiah after he struck a hat-trick last night.

The highly-rated youngster helped England’s U21’s to a 5-1 win against Austria in a Euro 2021 qualifier at Stadium MK.

It was a dazzling display from the England youngsters, with Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi, Manchester City’s Phil Foden and Burnley’s Dwight McNeil also shining on the night.

England U21’s coach Boothroyd and former Arsenal defender Keown stated that Nketiah is ‘some talent’ with a high level of intelligence in his game.

“He makes such good runs,” said Keown, as quoted by Leeds Live. “He is always on the move and he’s very intelligent. He sets his body up to find the back of the net.”

Boothroyd added: “He has got some talent. He is a proper striker. Those types of players want to score as many goals as they can and I am delighted for him.”

It was a statement performance from Nketiah, who was arguably the brightest spark from an England team that is filled with top-rated talent.

Nketiah will be hoping he can now take his international form and transcend it onto the club stage, where Leeds require the points to push up the table.

The Whites are currently sitting in the play-off places in the Championship, and if Nketiah can continue his scoring run at the weekend then there could be the possibility that Leeds are sitting in the top-two.
