John Terry left Chelsea and joined Aston Villa in the summer transfer window, but could the defender have ended up at Tottenham Hotspur?
Terry left Premier League champions Chelsea at the end of last season and moved to Aston Villa in the Championship in the summer transfer window on a free.
Former Tottenham manager Jol has said that he thought that the ex-England international central defender would join Tottenham.

“I actually thought John Terry would go to Spurs,” Jol told Voetbal International, as translated by Sport Witness.
“Experienced player, used to winning and knowing what is needed to become a champion. I think they are now a little narrow with central defenders.”

Tottenham have two of the best central defenders in the world in Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld, but the North London outfit could do with signing another centre-back in the summer transfer window.
However, given the rivalry between Tottenham and Chelsea, it is hard to imagine that Terry would have even considered making the switch between the two London clubs.
The 36-year-old centre-back is a Chelsea man through and through, and not many Spurs fans would have been happy if he had joined Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Villa will be aiming to finish in the top six of the Championship this season and stand a chance of getting promoted to the Premier League for the 2018-19 campaign.
