Martin Jol has suggested to Football.London that Tottenham Hotspur should have signed Donny van de Beek from Ajax in the January transfer window.

According to The Daily Mail, Tottenham are interested in signing Van de Beek from Dutch giants Ajax this summer.

It has been reported that Spurs are looking at the 22-year-old midfielder as a potential replacement for Christian Eriksen.

The report has claimed that the Netherlands international will cost £45 million in transfer fees.

Former Tottenham and Ajax manager Jol has suggested that Spurs should have made a move for Van de Beek when he was not always in the team and would have cost less.

Jol told Football.London about Tottenham while discussing recruitment process: “Then it comes down to expertise. For example Van de Beek in the winter you could bought him for much less because he wasn’t always in the team.

“That’s what scouts have to do, recognise the players, recognise the market. That is the only thing I can say because after it’s too late and Spurs won’t pay £50m or £60m.”

Promising talent

Van de Beek is a very good and talented young midfielder who will be a brilliant signing for Tottenham in the summer transfer window.

The youngster has shown this season with his performances in the Champions League that he is ready to step up and play for a big club such as Spurs.
