Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on Newcastle United’s main man between the sticks Martin Dubravka.

Tottenham Hotspur could potentially be making use of the turmoil at Newcastle United by trying to sign one of their players this summer.
The Daily Mail have claimed that Spurs are among a host of clubs who are keen on Newcastle’s number one shot-stopper Martin Dubravka.
It suggests that Dubravka could play a back-up role at Tottenham, but with it, provide more competition for the error-prone Hugo Lloris.
Firstly, Dubravka played a key role in Newcastle maintain their status in the Premier League last season when they finished in the bottom half as he proved that he is too good to be playing a back-up role in the Premier League.
Whilst the lure of Champions League football would be too hard to turn down, it is fair to say that unless Lloris has an absolute mare, Dubravka will remain on the bench. His talents are too good to be wasted like that.
Secondly, Dubravka has a chance to prove himself further at St James’ Park next season, and rather than being touted for a back-up role, he could find himself being someone’s number one higher up the Premier League table in the near future.

Thirdly, it could even be argued that given the current mess at Newcastle, Dubravka could potentially land himself a better role elsewhere, either in the Premier League or in Europe.
Ayoze Perez made the switch to Leicester City following Rafa Benitez’s departure earlier on this month, and Dubravka could do something similar by being the number one of a team, not in Europe, but one that is fighting for it or has ambitions to do so.
Either way, Newcastle will not want to lose another key player this summer, whilst Spurs fans will be hoping that Lloris’ bad form is behind him.
