Newcastle United fans chanted Martin Dubravka’s name during their win over Cardiff.

Speaking to The Chronicle, Martin Dubravka has thanked Newcastle United fans for chanting his name on Saturday.
Rafael Benitez’s side thumped fellow relegation candidates 3-0 at on Tyneside to alleviate some pressure on themselves in the battle to stay in the Premier League.
The St James’s Park faithful serenaded Dubrava – a £4 million signing last summer [The Chronicle] – at one point during the game.
And the Czech goalkeeper admits that the gesture was nothing short of ‘amazing’.
“It was amazing for me. I can hear everything that gets said behind me so I am really pleased with that,” he told The Chronicle.
“I really appreciate that type of thing because we really need it as players.”
Keeping Dubravka at Newcastle beyond this summer ought to be extra motivation for the Magpies to avoid relegation this summer.
If Benitez’s side go down, the 30-year-old will most definitely be subject of interest to clubs who remained in England’s top flight and it could be difficult for the Spanish manager – if he is in charge, that is – to keep hold of him for next season.
After all, it was his seventh clean sheet of the season, which is mightily impressive for a team battling to stay in the division, so interest is inevitable if they drop down into the Championship.
