Martin Dubravak has already established himself as Rafael Benitez’s number one at Newcastle United.

Martin Dubravka has told the Chronicle that he would be happier at Newcastle United if they were winning more games.

Dubravka joined Newcastle in the January transfer window, and he has made a huge impact since signing on loan.

The Slovakian stopper has immediately come into Rafael Benitez’s starting line-up, and looked an upgrade on the likes of Karl Darlow and Rob Elliot.

Dubravka claims that he is enjoying his time at St. James’ Park already, but the Sparta Prague loanee would feel happier if the Magpies were picking up more victories.

“I’m very happy with how things are going, that I can be here – and I will be happier when we take more points,” he said.

“We have time now to analyse the things we did well and what we did badly [in a 2-0 against Liverpool].

“We will prepare for the next game, and of course it will be a long time before we play the next game. We need to stay focused, and of course we have to look at a positive way.”

Dubravka has been on the winning side once since joining Newcastle, after inspiring his side to beat Manchester United.

The victory could prove crucial at the end of the season, as Newcastle battle against the drop.

Benitez’s side are currently in 16th place in the Premier League table, and sit just two point above the drop zone.

Newcastle are next in action at the weekend, when they take on fellow strugglers Southampton, in what looks like a game which could be season-defining for both sides.
