Rangers brought midfielder Greg Docherty to Ibrox in January.

Hamilton Academical boss Martin Canning has told The Scottish Sun that he thinks Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty is ‘like Hercules’, hailing his physique.
Docherty, 21, came up through the ranks with Hamilton having joined the Accies in 2005, and impressed in more than 100 appearances for the club.
His superb displays this season ultimately triggered interest during the January transfer window, and after a brief transfer saga, Rangers managed to land the midfielder.

A boyhood Gers fan, Docherty earned his dream move to Ibrox and has now nailed down a starting role in Graeme Murty’s midfield, forming a strong partnership with Sean Goss.
This weekend, Docherty is set to start for Rangers at Ibrox against Old Firm rivals Celtic in what may well be the biggest game of his career so far, and he has been hailed by one of his former managers ahead of the match.
Hamilton boss Martin Canning made Docherty a first-team regular at New Douglas Park, and has told The Scottish Sun that Docherty’s fitness levels are ‘ridiculous’, comparing him to Hercules due to his impressive physique.
Canning feels that Docherty’s mobility isn’t impacted by his size, praising his ability to get up and down the pitch and claiming that he is disciplined diet-wise, which he will certainly need playing in midfield.

Canning also believes that Docherty will handle the pressure of his first Old Firm derby, claiming he won’t be fazed and has already done well by getting into the Rangers team and nailing down a first-team spot so quickly.
“Greg’s fitness levels are ridiculous. There is not one ounce of fat on him,” said Canning. “He’s got muscles on top of muscles. He’s like Hercules. The size of him is ridiculous, but that doesn’t impact his mobility at all. He’s well built, but not to the point where it stops him moving, and he also has his athletics background. I think he stopped the running when he came in full-time at Hamilton, but he was a good 400m runner as a young boy.”
“You can see why, because he is such a powerful runner over long distances. He’s quick when it comes to sprinting, too, but you can see the way he powers around the pitch. He’s disciplined in terms of his diet. He’s in good shape and he’s a top pro. Greg will handle the occasion. He has a good mentality and is very level-headed. He has a huge amount of self-belief and he knows his strengths and qualities. He’s also intelligent and that game won’t faze him. He will go and do his job. Greg’s done really well so far at Rangers. He got in the team and stayed there,” he added.
