Olympique Marseille will reportedly accelerate talks with Atalanta midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi in the coming weeks, with the French side eager to beat Tottenham to signing the Ukrainian.
According to L’Equipe, the Ligue 1 giants will push hard to sign Malinovskyi following news earlier this week that midfielder Amine Harit is set to spend a lengthy spell out on the sideline due to injury, with the Atalanta star viewed by Igor Tudor as the ideal replacement for the remainder of the season.
Marseille were interested with Malinovskyi in the summer, yet just like Tottenham, the UEFA Champions League side were unable to strike a deal to sign the midfielder, who looks set to leave Atalanta in the January window after falling out with the club.
CalcioMercato have recently reported that Tottenham remain interested in the midfielder, who Atalanta are looking to sell for £25m in the upcoming winter market. Yet with Marseille now increasing their efforts to sign Malinovskyi, Spurs could lose out on the 29-year-old to their European rivals.

Indeed, central midfield is a position Tottenham are eager to improve on in January, and Malinovskyi’s position with Atalanta would have made the Serie A outcast the perfect signing for Antonio Conte’s side. However, the north London side could soon lose out on the Ukrainian to Marseille.
As mentioned, Malinovskyi was on Marseille’s radar in the summer window, with Foot Mercato even reporting that the midfielder was close to joining OM before opting to remain in Bergamo. And now, the French giants could launch their next assault to sign the Tottenham target.
Tottenham missing out on Malinovskyi signing to Marseille will sting

Tottenham left late against Marseille in the Champions League this season to book their ticket to the round-of-16 and to dump the French side out of Europe. Yet the Ligue 1 giants could have the last life if they manage to clinch the signing of Malinovskyi in the coming weeks.
After all, the Atalanta star is perfect for what Conte wants in a midfielder this January. And to lose out on signing Malinovskyi to Marseille, of all clubs, will be a killer blow for Tottenham, who should be viewing themselves as favourites to sign the Serie A star.
