Tottenham and Marseille recently concluded a deal involving Georges-Kevin N’Koudou and Clinton N’Jie.
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy
It took a while but on transfer deadline day Tottenham Hotspur finally sealed a deal for Georges-Kevin N’Koudou to join the club. He arrived, with Clinton N’Jie heading in the other direction, 40 days after it was initially reported that the deal was essentially done.
There have been numerous reports over why this deal took so long. Marseille have been going through a change in management whilst there were also reports of N’Jie not being keen on heading to Marseille.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino and chairman Daniel Levy before the match
Another theory has centred around Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.
He reportedly struck a mean negotiator with the French club and their new sporting director Gunter Jacob has confirmed as much.
He is quoted by ESPN as stating:
“Mr. Levy is not the easiest in negotiations, but I must say he was very straight with us.
“I worked well with him. It was difficult, but I’m happy that we were finally able to complete the transfer.”

The Spurs chairman certainly has a reputation as being one of the meanest negotiators in the world game.
This deal saw Spurs and Marseille go at it for some time but, in the end, it appears both sides got what they were after.
Levy will now be hoping that Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino can make better use of N’Koudou then he did with N’Jie.
