Simon Grayson has claimed that Leeds United fans will chant for ‘Marcelo Bielsa’s name’ during Jesse Marsch’s first home game in charge against Aston Villa next week at Elland Road, as he told Sky Sports News (28/02/22 at 6:05 pm).

On Monday evening, Leeds announced that Marsch is the new man to try and lead them to survival after they sacked Bielsa.

A barren run of results and performances, which saw Leeds concede a whopping 20 goals during the shortest month of the year, left those in the boardroom with no choice but to boot their popular coach out of the door.

Marsch’s first game will be an away clash at Leicester City, before his first home game at Elland Road will be against another Midlands side, this time Aston Villa.

And Grayson, who has also stood on that Yorkshire touchline, thinks that the packed-out home crowd will sing Bielsa’s name and ‘Marsch will wonder what has hit him’.

“It’s going to be really tough,” said Grayson. “They play Leicester at the weekend and the first home game will be next Thursday against Aston Villa.

“You can imagine what it’s going to be like. Full house at Elland Road singing Marcelo Bielsa’s name.

“Jesse Marsch will be wondering what has hit him. The love Marcelo has had since he has been here.”

Marsch doesn’t have much leg room to work with and he has to attack the first two matches.

Leicester have been all over the place this season and Leeds should back themselves to get a positive result at the King Power.

Whilst the last time Villa and Leeds locked horns, they recorded a 3-3 draw, and in truth, whenever the duo play, there always seems to be drama.

There’s no doubt that the Leeds faithful will back the new man in the dugout, but he will never be as popular as the man that has just left.
