Fabrizio Romano has made a claim about Leeds involving Jesse Marsch and Cody Drameh as the 21-year-old nears a move to Luton.
What’s the story?
Well, the England Under-21 international is set to leave Elland Road on loan as he undergoes a medical with the Championship outfit.
However, Leeds fans will be seeing Drameh back in Yorkshire next season, where he could have a big role to play.
Romano believes Marsch did not want Luton to have any option to buy the right-back on a permanent basis, as the American “wants him to be part of” the Leeds squad for next season.
That represents a significant turnaround for Drameh, as his future at Elland Road appeared to be in real danger after he seemingly upset Marcelo Bielsa in January 2022.
The Argentine wanted to keep the Dulwich-born defender at Thorp Arch due to a number of injury problems, with El Loco feeling that the Leeds No.37 had a real opportunity to nail down a place in the starting XI.
However, Drameh – who cost Leeds £1m in a move from Fulham – forced an exit to join Cardiff on loan, which baffled Bielsa.
Leeds Live quoted the 67-year-old as saying: “I did not think he needed to play games elsewhere. He was a player who was very necessary with all of the absences we have. He preferred to go and play outside of Leeds.
“In a situation where opportunities for youngsters has increased clearly, in this case, Drameh would prefer to experiment outside our team. What I imagined as a great opportunity, he imagined it in a different way. Clearly, I calculated things wrongly.”
Some Leeds fans even felt Drameh would never play for Leeds again under Bielsa, given the Argentina’s unpredictable nature.
Drameh can become a regular for Leeds
In our view, Drameh can become a key player for Leeds next season if he shines at Luton.

Luke Ayling is still a reliable option, but at 31 years of age, he cannot be considered the long-term solution for Leeds in the right-back department.
That is why Rasmus Kristensen was signed back in the summer, although the Denmark international has struggled in Yorkshire, with Marsch leaving him on the bench in recent weeks.
Therefore, if Drameh performs well on loan at Luton, there is certainly an opening for him at right-back next season.
