Jesse Marsch has told press conference – as Leeds Live – that Kalvin Phillips is ready to be play at Crystal Palace. The Leeds star is fully recovered from his hamstring issue, and Marsch has praised his performance in training.

Phillips, 26, has not started a match since December 5 when he suffered the issue in a 2-2 draw with Brentford. He has since made substitute outings in the 1-1 draw with Southampton, and 30 minutes in the 3-0 win v Watford.

With Leeds last in action more than two weeks ago, Phillips has been focused on overcoming his injury and now he is set to feature against Palace on Monday night at Selhurst Park. Marsch was asked about him.

Marsch told his press conference that Phillips is fit and ready to go against Palace. He also spoke about the importance of the England midfielder, and his Leeds roots – also praising the no.23 for his performances in training.

“I have seen from the beginning he has an effect on the group. His identity and being Leeds. Push him to be better and better and be the best. Great in training. Really good training week. Fully fit and fully ready,” Marsch said.

Marsch on Phillips: Leeds star could be just what they need in scrap

He is the heartbeat of the Leeds side. Liam Cooper has returned from injury and performed superbly in the draw against Southampton and the win over Watford. Hopefully, from a Leeds point of view, Phillips follows suit.

With Adam Forshaw out for the rest of the season after fracturing his knee cap, Leeds desperately need Phillips to hit the ground running. He might just be the final ingredient in Leeds’ chase for Premier League safety.
