Jesse Marsch has told Friday’s press conference – as per Leeds’ YouTube channel – that Patrick Bamford could make an appearance on Sunday against Brentford. He also gave updates on Luke Ayling and Tyler Roberts.

Ayling is suspended and will miss Sunday’s clash against Brentford. Leeds have therefore decided to correct a long-standing issue at this point, so he is ready for the new season. He will be injured between two, and four months.

Meanwhile, Marsch also gave an update on Tyler Roberts. The Wales star was ruled out for the rest of the campaign after picking up an injury against Leicester. Marsch said he trained this week, but is unavailable on Sunday.

But there is good news regarding England star Bamford. Marsch states that he has looked good in training, and while a decision is yet to be made for Sunday, he is still in with a chance of appearing this weekend for Leeds.

“Patrick Bamford has looked really good this week. We still haven’t made a final decision on where he’ll stand for Sunday. He had a day off today to rest. But we’ll make a decision in next couple of days,” Marsch said.

“Ayling has scucessful surgery yesterday. Hopeful it’s not too long – between two and four months. It’s on a knee issue that he needs to sort out. Roberts first day back in training today. Ready for start of next year.”

Marsch gives Leeds injury update: Bamford return is massive

Leeds fans will have watched Sunday’s draw with Brighton and rued the injury to Bamford. They lacked a striker with a fox-in-the-box style. If Bamford had played, Leeds might have scored three of four.

Creating the chances is not a problem, with Jack Harrison and Raphinha out wide and Rodrigo as a 10. But it is finishing it off. Having Bamford back on Sunday will be a massive boost – it could just keep Leeds in the top tier.
