Jesse Marsch fhas told his post-match press conference – as quoted by Leeds Live – that Adam Forshaw remains an “important player ” for Leeds United despite the club signing Tyler Adams and Marc Roca this summer.
Forshaw, 30, started alongside new signing Roca in midfield and was solid on Thursday, as Leeds beat Brisbane Roar 2-1. His perfectly-timed first-touch pass to Dan James saw him nab an assist, and he was involved in the second.
The £4.5million (BBC) signing was taken off at half-time, as were many others. But his long-term future at Leeds could be in doubt given he is in his thirties, and is now in the final 12 months of his Elland Road contract.

However, Marsch moved quickly to reassure the player and inform fans that despite the combined £30million spent on Adams and Roca – as well as teenage talent Darko Gyabi – that Forshaw is still crucial to his Leeds side.
“Adam’s an important player for us. He’s a big leader for us. He helped set up the couple of goals with some of the plays he made. He’s a very reliable leader and player for us. No question,” Marsch said.

For now. Forshaw is a leader, proven by his wearing of the captain’s armband and leading the Whites out against The Roar. However, his contract situation will be an upcoming issue that will require sorting out.
Leeds have talent in Lew Bate, Archie Gray an Gyabi coming through. They have Stuart Dallas to return, Mateusz Klich, and then the signings of Roca and Adams. It might be, that Forshaw is facing his final year at Elland Road.
