The new West Ham United manager clearly has a soft spot for the Manchester United player.

So it is finally official, the worst kept secret in football has been announced with West Ham United putting their faith in David Moyes, at least until the end of this season.

The ex-Sunderland, Manchester United and Everton boss has replaced Slaven Bilic at the London Stadium and he is tasked with getting this under-performing Hammers side back to their best.

While the January transfer window is still some way off, you can expect a few additions at the turn of the year, with the majority of the work done next summer if – as expected – Moyes keeps West Ham in the top flight. So what chance a hat-trick of approaches for Marouane Fellaini?

Well, the truth is, on this occasion Moyes is likely to fall short in any bid for a player he clearly loves, having signed him for both Everton and United.

The thing is, for all the initial fan confusion over Fellaini’s price-tag, he continues to do a job at Old Trafford, rated by both Louis van Gaal and more recently Jose Mourinho despite having more critics than hairs on his head.

Even with a contract that expires this summer, Fellaini is not going to move from United to West Ham just to reunite with the boss who transformed his career.

An extension at United is the most likely option, while a rumoured move to Turkey could also be on the cards if Fellaini fancies a change of scene.

But as much as the gossip columns and bookmakers would like us to believe that Moyes will make Fellaini one of his first signings yet again, it is not going to happen, leaving the new West Ham boss to either target some of his other one-time players or, hopefully, take a look at someone new!
