According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Marouane Fellaini is set to leave Manchester United in the summer transfer window, and that could put West Ham United on alert again.

West Ham have been heavily linked with a move for Fellaini in recent times, with David Moyes a huge fan of the midfielder.

The Hammers were said by the Daily Star to want Fellaini back in January, but no deal was agreed.

However, the Mirror suggest that Fellaini will be off in the summer, as his contract is set to expire.

That should alert West Ham, as Fellaini could well be a better buy than Fulham’s Tom Cairney.

If Fulham are not promoted, Cairney will be made available for £20 million according to the Daily Mirror, with West Ham among the interested parties.

But if Fellaini is available on a free transfer, then he may represent a better value for money option.

Fellaini has had his critics since his £27.5 million switch to Old Trafford back in 2013, but he is of proven Premier League quality and would be a valuable asset for the Hammers.

And West Ham must be encouraged that a transfer could be possible, after the latest reports on his availability.
