Marlon Harewood has told LoveSport Radio that he reckons West Ham United can finish in the top six of the Premier League, after the Hammers have earned three straight Premier League wins.

Following a 4-0 home defeat by Premier League champions and Manuel Pellegrini’s former side Manchester City, West Ham have earned nine points from a possible nine – rising to 11th in the league.

The Hammers have beat Newcastle United 3-0, a 3-1 win over Cardiff City and then a narrow 3-2 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday. The likes of Javier Hernandez, Robert Snodgrass and Mark Noble have all been praised.

Former West Ham striker Harewood has been delighted with the Hammers’ improved form, and reckons they can break into the Premier League stronghold that is the top six.

“I think West Ham can get into that top six,” Harewood said. “The last couple of games, it has seen them sort out a nice little formula. At the start of the season, it was hard for Pellegrini.

“He had to get loads of players to gel straight away. Now, he has got the players together and buying into the way he wants to play. They’ve looked really good.”

Pellegrini’s side have a very kind run of Christmas fixtures, which sees them travel to bottom-of-the-table Fulham on Saturday before facing Watford at home, Southampton away, Burnley away and then Brighton at home on January 2.

Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are expected to finish in the top six places of the Premier League. Harewood reckons West Ham can break that trend.

They are currently five points behind sixth-placed United, after 16 matches played.
